South Arran and Glenashdale,
Landranger 69
Route in brief
47km, 600m climb, some lovely views.
From the ferry at Brodick go over the hill to Lamlash. Turn off the main road at the hairpin bend at
Monamore bridge on to the Ross road. Turn left after 1/2 km into the forest. At this point there is a
forest walk which is quite entertaining to the right of the forest track.
Keep right after 5km and then keep left after another 5km, 300m left again, another left in 300m and
descend to the main road. Refreshments are available at Lagg hotel or tearoom. Use the main road to
Whiting bay with a detour to Kildonan if desired, giving an additional 120m of climb. At Whiting Bay
take the foot path to Glenashdale falls and continue climbing to rejoin the forest road. Return to
Lamlash by the reverse route. Climb out of Lamlash on the A841 and at the forest walks at the top of
the climb turn off to the right and follow the footpath over Claughland Hills. From the top continue
east to the edge of the forest and turn left toward Brodick and the start.
