Starting from Eglinton country park at MR
320420 just off the A737 Irvine to Kilwinning
Return to the A737 out of the park and go
right onto the minor road leading to the B785,
following this to the A736 going right and
then left after 100m on the main road. Cycle
past Annick lodge and fork right steeply
downhill over the pretty Annick water.
Cross the B769 right a little and follow the minor road
to Knockinteber and the B751 to Crosshouse. Cross
the B7081 (left then right) and in 200m go right down
a narrow minor road leading to a nice spot by the
river Irvine at Laigh Milton mill. Go left to Gatehead
at the mill.
At Gatehead go right down across the river
and immediately left past Old Rome
restaurant and in 1.5 km Earlston going
right before the B7038 Kilmarnock road,
Joining the B751 and then to Symington.
Turn right in Symington downhill past Burnbrae to
follow the minor road over the hill directly to
There are a number of lunch stop options at
Dundonald, there is a tea and biscuit café at the castle
visitor centre, a tearoom at Frazers garden centre
immediately across the A759 on the right and a café
half a kilometre further on the left at the industrial
area on the B730 which is on route.
Continue through Drybridge over the river Irvine and
turn right after going below the A71. At the A71
roundabout go left uphill to the B7081 going straight
across down to a roundabout with only one exit and
then go right in 200m toward Perceton going right
then immediately left into Perceton (MR354402).
At the bottom of the hill go left and then in 100m right into a no through road at the top of the
hill at a barrier go straight across the road past a pub on the left, the road becomes a track and in
300m go right then fork right at MR343413 before Sourlie roundabout going left in half a km to
return by the outward route back to Eglinton park.
