Very convenient parking is to be had in Eglinton Country park (MR320419)
Leave the A78 dual carriageway at the north end of Irvine signposted A737 to Kilwinning on the
roundabout over the dual carriageway take the exit signed for Eglinton country park.
Follow the signs to the first parking opposite the buildings of the park centre.
Cycle out of the parking going right keeping the park buildings on your left, to another parking
area where the old meat factory is on your left. Follow this road to exit the park onto cycle way
beside the A737 (you do not need to go on the road here)..
Go right along the cycleway 150m to the minor road which is the start of the route, MR310424.
In 1 km join the B785 going right continuing to Montgreenan (signposted Benslie) where you
take the left fork leading to Torrenyard in 2km.
Cross the A736 and keep left at the next complicated junction (250m), climb the short hill past
Laigh Auchinharvie then the castle ruin to take the right fork at Crossgates farm.
Continue to Stewarton and the Coffe Pot in the main street on the right 100m past the traffic
Leave Stewarton heading North East on the B769 for 2.5 km, turning left at Thornhill onto a
minor road.
Turn left at the next two junctions and then right down to Dunlop, cross the village and start out
west on the B706 but at the edge of the village go left in front of the church and follow the
picturesque road to the B778, going right to cross the A736 slightly right over a bridge.
Travel the minor road for 3 km and then right to the B785 over Lugton Water and return to
Eglinton Park.
