Description

NOTE: there is a good leaflet ‘Straiton walks’ printed
by Kestral Press (Irvine) giving a number of trails in
this area for the walker. The walk below is effectively a
combination of two of them.

Go out from the parking turning right onto the road,
cross the burn by the bridge and go immediately right
down a woody lane.
Cross the field beside the burn and go over the Water
of Girvan by the footbridge turning left on the farm
road.
Continue on this side of the river through the woods
going straight ahead at the sharp uphill bend at the far
side of the wood.
Go down hill diagonally to another track and along to
Craigfad (GR 384027).
Turn left to the minor road and left again at the road.
300m along the road back to Straiton there is a track
uphill on the right, go up here and at the top go north to
Craigengower monument.
Follow the trail directly down into and through the
wood back to Straiton.
