Start by catching the Wemyss Bay to Port Glasgow train. Parking is available in the train station
(pay and display) or opposite the petrol station for a small charge.
Leave the station and cross the railway line by a bridge leading to a steep set of steps going uphill on
to Barrs Brae and Devol Road which lead to the golf club house.
A good track continues past the club house and along the edge of the golf course. A 2 km walk
brings you to a minor road where you should go right.
After 1.2km go left on the B788 for 150m then right on to a tarmac road which leads along the south
side of Gryfe Reservoir.
Beyond Garshangan the track becomes rougher through the woods.
After 4 ½ km go left on the minor road which goes along beside Loch Thom.
At the southern tip of Loch Thom cross the bridge and leave the road and onto the moor at the
corner, heading to Crawhin Reservoir. Walk on the north side of Crawhin Reservoir along by a small
burn to the Kelly Cut (GR 237710).
Follow the Kelly Cut left 3km to Kelly Reservoir and then down the track and tarmac road toward
About 3/4 km before Wemyss Bay (GR 201684) there is a track off to the left which leads into the
Kelly Burn where there is a little footpath beside the burn down to Wemyss Bay and the café.
