My wife and I do this walk quite regularly
as it can be squeezed into an evening
with no difficulty and being west facing
gets the late sun and sunset.
Parking is in a picnic spot on the left just before entering Fairlie but after the 30mph signs.
From here it is a pleasant walk along the front by Millers Walk.
At the end of Miller walk go up the slip and along the road 150m, turn right up to the main A78.
Go left and just before the petrol station cross the road and go up the rough lane.
At the end of the lane is an open turning area and one end a set of steps lead down to a small
wooden gate and a track.
Follow the track to the wall behind which you will see Fairlie castle. Climb through the low part of
the wall and up to the castle.
If you wish you can visit the waterfall by continuing up Fairlie glen for about 300m the waterfall is
signposted beside a steel gate as the slope increases.
The way to the waterfall is to the right of the gate and the steep slope along a level grassy path.
From Fairlie Castle a small footpath runs parallel to the track by the wall down across the railway and
past a quaint cottage set against the rocks.
Pass the cottage and go directly to the main road turn right, cross the road and go down a lane back
on to the early part of Miller Walk and left back to the car park.
