Knapdale multiday Distance 186km

This is a muti day loop through some beautiful countryside Arran, Knapdale and the Kyles of Bute. It can be turned into a loop using the hilly small roads from Wemyss Bay to Largs, Largs prom and the cycleway down the coast back to Ardrossan.Car parking is available at Ardrossan ferry terminal at £5 a day but drop off and pick up is how we did it. Hopscotch tickets reduce the price of ferries to around £17 in total.

Navigation is easy, we stayed at Lochgilphead giving a first day of 96km (60m) and a second day of 88km (55m). The main road from Ardrishaig to Tarbert has some traffic but is quiet enough that they can give plenty of room for cycles. The west side of Knapdale has only one pub at Kilberry open for lunch 12 till 2 so carry snacks and water.

There are quite a number of variations that extend the trip, a loop around Arran makes a great extra day, as would a loop up by Loch Sween to Crinan. Return can be made via Dunoon closing the loop via Brisbane Glen to Largs. All in all this area has lots to offer the cyclist.
