Douglas 2    Landranger  71

Route in brief 46km, 500m climb, 2km push/carry
Interest- wind farm at Douglas

Park at Kaims south of Muirkirk go south up the valley track 4km (Gapel water)..
Contour 3 km round Stony Hill (very muddy) and continue into the forest (300m extremely muddy).
Go right at the junction 1km into the forest, 1km go left, 1 km go right to Fingland (3km).
Go east past Blackgannoch.
After 2 km the track heads north and becomes faint after the sheep pens. Push/carry/ride to the
track on the north side of Cairn Kinney. To avoid the carry go left or NE at MR737202 to Duneaton
water (ford).
Fast descent to the tarmac road in Glentaggart and then to Douglas.
Just entering Douglas turn left over Douglas water, go uphill to Douglas West and straight on to the
rough track up Arkney Hill.
Contour along Henry's Hill to MR779323.
The original route as shown on the map goes down to Glenbuck, however that is now blocked by
open cast workings so it is now necessary to cross the road and continue in the forest up to the SW
side of Nutberry hill (MR 736333). From here there is a choice of two routes both with pushing
involved.
The first is over Priesthill height and down hill (quad track) to Priest hill however the farmer was very
aggressive toward me so it's best if you are not alone.
The other route is along the side of Leaze burn to the very nice track which starts about MR 723329.
Both involve pushing the bike about 1km over rough ground.
